CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT BREADTH - LIVING BUILDING CHALLENGE

The Living Building Challenge is a green building certification program, holistic performance standard, and sustainable design framework that is implemented with the built environment at its forefront. The Living Building Challenge was launched by the International Living Future Institute, a non-profit organization whose mission is to "lead and support the transformation toward communities that are socially just, culturally rich, and ecologically restorative". The certification process is based on actual building performance - projects must be in operation for at least 12 consecutive months before certification evaluation can occur. The program is separated into seven performance areas called Petals: Place, Water, Energy, Health + Happiness, Materials, Equity, and Beauty. Each Petal contains various subcategory performance areas of evaluation called Imperatives.
